Meet Our Wonderful Staff

Our teachers are a talented and experienced group.   They have been chosen for their training, experience, character and ability to relate well with young children.  All lead teachers are degreed in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and half of the staff have also earned master’s degrees.  In addition, our teachers are a dedicated group. Currently the average tenure of a Dayspring teacher is ten years.  The quality of our program is a direct reflection of this expertise and loyalty.

Ms. Shown

Director

This is my 8th year in the Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten Office!  My youngest started in the 3’s and went through kindergarten here at Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten.  I’m thankful every day to be a part of this amazing school and to work for such amazing teachers who pour their hearts and souls into everything they do.  It’s a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to play, create memories, and be kind to one another!

Mrs. Logsdon

Assistant Director

This is my 14th year in the Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten office, but my 20th year on the campus of this wonderful community.  Both of my children attended Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten and have grown up in the church (we have been church members since 2005).  My love for this school and the church is immeasurable, and being part of this community of professional staff, wonderful children, and friendly parents is an honor for me.

Mrs. Tribble

Office Bookkeeper

Mrs. Gehring

Early Bird Teacher

Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten has given me a 15-year opportunity to work with dedicated and talented educators, delightful children, and a very caring and supportive office staff.  Years ago, my now three adult children, attended Dayspring Preschool.

Mrs. Wiggs

Enrichment Teacher

Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten is home to the most amazing children, wonderful parents, awesome teachers, and excellent leadership!  It offers the finest age-appropriate, exciting, and fun learning experiences in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.  I feel truly blessed to have been a Dayspring Preschool teacher for 38 years, and as some of our former students tell us when they come back to visit, “Oh, I remember —- This is The Happy Place!”

Ms. Mokwa

Kindergarten Teacher

I have always felt that Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten was an oasis in educational experiences.  The school and faculty nurture and grow the whole child, not just academics.  The staff is the most sincerely dedicated that I have ever encountered.  (I taught in three public schools before Dayspring and have had three children in school.)  I have been on the faculty for 31 years.  It is a place and program that I love, and am proud to be a part of.  Children learn while being happy, active and engaged. We provide them life-skills and a positive foundation to build on.

Mrs. Carter

Kindergarten Teacher

Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten is a special place where children are loved and encouraged to learn and grow through play.  I have been a part of this dedicated staff for 28 years.  My two children are alumni and now my grand-kids are a part of this wonderful community.  It is the best!!

Mrs. Ealick

Pre-K and Enrichment Teacher

I have been a teacher at Dayspring for 20 years, and before that I was a Dayspring parent with both of my sons having attended the preschool.  It is a wonderful and caring environment for children to play, laugh, sing, grow, learn, create and have lots of fun!  I feel so blessed to work at Dayspring with such amazing and supportive co-workers, leaders, students and families.

Mrs. Kyroudis

Creative Movement Teacher

My love for young children and their families has drawn me to teach at Dayspring for the past 17 years. I am proud to be part of the school that offers quality developmental programs.  Excellent teachers and administrators are always willing to go the extra mile for the school and each other.

Mrs. Oberbillig

4’s Teacher

My love of Dayspring began as a parent of a preschooler. Right away, I felt we were part of a caring, warm and accepting community. I knew this is where I wanted to restart my teaching career. The play-based curriculum allows children to learn through play and be children. Most days include making messy art projects and learning how to get along, making mistakes, singing, running, and exploring through science. This year, I will eagerly start my 16th year!

Mrs. Hatton

4’s and Enrichment Teacher

I have been a member of Dayspring UMC for 29 years and a teacher at Dayspring Preschool for the past 8 years.  My favorite part of Dayspring is the close-knit community.  I love the Preschool’s play-based curriculum that allows our littles to learn through the art of play.  When you have kids in your class whose parents were former students, you know you are in an amazing place!

Mrs. McFarlan

4’s Teacher

I have been at Dayspring for 5 years. My 3 daughters have all attended Dayspring’s Preschool and Kindergarten programs. I love teaching at Dayspring because this school truly allows children to learn and grow at their own pace and embraces the magic of childhood through play-based learning. The Dayspring community is one that cannot be replicated and why after my own children moved on, I chose to teach at this wonderful school.

Mrs. Coughlin

Pee Wees Teacher

During my son’s time in Mrs. Smith’s threes class, I knew that when I returned to teaching, I wanted to be a part of the Dayspring teaching team. In his kindergarten year, I got the opportunity to join the staff. I am amazed by the strong foundation this school community provides for the children in our care through rich, quality experiences!

Mrs. Hummel

4’s Teacher

I love working at Dayspring because it is such a special place to be. From the staff to the students and the families, the community it has created is one that I cherish being a part of. I have been a teacher here for over 4 years. All 3 of my children attended preschool here, and I attended Dayspring when I was a kid. I love teaching here and am so glad it to be a part of this great school!

Mrs. Squires

3’s Teacher

I have loved working, for the past five years, as the 3’s assistant teacher at Dayspring for so many reasons, but one important reason are the amazing families and their children. Dayspring has been such a big part of my life and has given me such a sense of community for the past ten years, as my two daughters have gone through the preschool and kindergarten programs.
